Victoria Mathew
Graduate Student Intern
Victoria Mathew received a B.A. in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2019. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling through William and Mary with a concentration in military and veterans’ counseling. Victoria believes that all people have the inner capacity to heal and change in the context of an empathic environment. She views therapy as the ultimate collaboration; she brings creativity, openness, and warmth to the healing process, and her clients bring their bravery, perseverance, and unique strengths. Victoria has experience with helping moms who have ADHD, autism, postpartum rage, sensory overload, and stress to feel like themselves again through coping skills, mindfulness, identity exploration, and support. Victoria has worked with children for many years in many capacities as a nanny, RBT, au pair, psychological testing technician, and play therapist, so she can appreciate some of the challenges and rewards of this incredibly vital job. Victoria also has a passion for working with women who have histories or current experiences with emotional abuse and neglect, especially those suffering from “eldest daughter syndrome.” It is her pleasure to watch these clients heal, grow in their confidence, and advocate for their right to live a vibrant life. When she is not seeing clients, Victoria enjoys writing poetry, reading books, and jogging at the park.
